Language carries memory
A language is more than a list of words. It carries family memory, place names, ecological knowledge and a distinct way of seeing the world. The future of mother tongues such as Koĩts depends not only on schools or institutions, but also on everyday conversation at home.
Small practices at home
Families can begin with greetings, kinship terms, food names and short sentences about daily tasks. Recording an elder's story, singing children's songs and labelling household objects in the mother tongue can make learning both useful and enjoyable.
Use matters more than perfection
Learners will make mistakes. Gentle repetition is more encouraging than criticism. Regular use, respect for speakers and attention to community-approved spelling and pronunciation can make language preservation stronger.
